How to Provide Feedback to the Referring Doctor

When patients are assessed after completing a pulmonary rehabilitation program, the results should be sent to the referring doctor.  Feedback to the referring doctor should include comments about the patient’s progress in the supervised and home exercise programs.

A sample final assessment letter is available.

Ongoing communication with the referring doctor promotes continued reinforcement of the patient’s program and can help to maintain a good working relationship with medical staff.
